One of the best things about creating Mad Libs story ideas is the brainstorming process.  When concieving of 21 stories based on a main theme (like pets), I try to make each one feel fresh and fun.  The magic formula? Variety! Variety in perspective (is the story coming from a human or pet viewpoint?) format (is it a recipe, a song, a list, a letter, an article, an account of what happened?), and topic (is it about what pet I want, naming a pet, how to take care of a pet?). And then of course there's the testing phase, where I make sure the stories work by having my kids and husband do them first!
