Aaaaah, Hatchimals - the hottest toy in 2016! Hatchimals - furry (creepy?) creatures that hatch from an egg!  Hatchimals - not my favorite property but don't tell anyone!

This book was a bit tricky to wrap my head around at first because, at that point in world history, Hatchimals was exclusively a toy property (being developed for TV).  Thankfully, the publisher supplied me with info about the characters - where they lived, their personalities, and an idea of what life is like in Hatchtopia (hint: pretty sweet if you like magical places).  

After digesting the intricate world of Hatchtopia - its various landscapes (get ready to turn purple in Lilac Lake),  complex social dynamics (Snowflake Penguala and Green Zebrush should be seated at separate tables but don't quote me), and traditions (Guess what happens on Wishing Day?) - I was able to imagine and create the stories that could happen there.  

Hip hip Hatchi-Hooray!
